Ein Platz voller Sterne

Der Gemeindeplatz Egelshofen bekommt ein neues Gesicht. Die Siegerin des Wettbewerbs für die
Gestaltung kommt aus Weinfelden: Ihre Zeichnung gedenkt der Einweihung der Kirche 1724.

kreuzlingen. «Die Entdeckung des Stadtraumes» heisst das Projekt der Kunstkommission, die in diesem
Jahr zum zweitenmal einen Wettbewerb in diesem Rahmen ausgeschrieben hat. Ausgewählt wurde der
alte Gemeindeplatz Egelshofen, ein Ort, «bei dem es wenig braucht, um ihn kaputtzumachen», wie
Jurymitglied Bernard Roth anlässlich der Präsentation des Siegerprojektes treffend bemerkte.
Und weil es so wenig braucht, gingen im Vorfeld die Wogen im Quartier hoch. Diese hätten sich
geglättet, wie Margrit Baumgartner, Anwohnerin und beratendes Mitglied der Jury, mit Freude bestätigt.
Die Zusammenarbeit in der Gruppe sei stets von gutem Geist erfüllt gewesen und ihre Bedenken und
Anregungen hätten Anklang gefunden. Von den 32 eingereichten Projekten schafften es zwei in die
allerletzte Runde des Wettbewerbs, gewonnen hat schliesslich Doris Naef aus Weinfelden.
Zeichnung ähnelt Segelschiff
«Astrokartographie als Kunst im öffentlichen Raum» heisst das Projekt. Es stellt die Platzsituation in
einen historischen Kontext. Die Einweihung der Kirche Egelshofen am 19. September 1724 wird als
Bezugsdatum einer Astrokarte genommen. Die Konstellation der Sterne ist an jedem Tag einzigartig, und
in der vorliegenden Form ähnelt die Zeichnung einem Segelschiff – für die Künstlerin «durchaus ein
interessanter Bezug zu Kreuzlingen».
Die Bodenmarkierungen sollen in hellem Granit ausgeführt werden. Die Fläche innerhalb des Kreises
werde mit einem schwarzen Kiesbelag aufgefüllt. Die Befahrbarkeit des Platzes ist gegeben, und die
stolze Linde bleibt ebenso unangetastet wie die rundum führende Sitzbank. «Für die Jury ist das eine
zeitlose Neugestaltung des Platzes», sagt Roth.
Fünf Projekte sind ausgestellt
Als einen spannenden, intensiven und langen Weg bezeichnete Roth die Entscheidungsfindung. Drei
Ortsbegehungen wurden durchgeführt, und in der finalen Runde waren die Projektverfasser der beiden in
Frage kommenden Objekte vor Ort. «Ein Umstand, der in solchen Wettbewerben selten ist», sagt Roth.
Die letzten fünf im Rennen verbliebenen Projekte sind bis zum 11. September im Stucksaal des
Museums Rosenegg zu sehen.
Einweihung im Frühling 2012
Das Budget für das Werk inklusive aller Kosten beträgt 20 000 Franken. «Wir hoffen, das Werk im
Frühling 2012 einweihen zu können», meinte Stadträtin Dorena Raggenbass. Eine Einweihungsfeier
unter Mitwirkung des Quartiervereins Egelshofen werde ins Auge gefasst.
